Wandering the street intoxicated, getting into an argument with a citizen
Recording captures a tone that sounds like laughing and joking around
A recording capturing the laughter of Park Daeseong, the murderer of a high school girl in Suncheon, Jeonnam, one hour after the crime has been released.
On the 10th, JTBC obtained and released a phone recording of citizen A, who subdued Park Daeseong after he caused a disturbance on the street and reported him to the police. At the time, Park Daeseong had killed a teenage girl he had never met before with a weapon, wandered the streets, damaged a car, and caused a commotion. The call recording released by JTBC clearly captured Park Daeseong’s smirking laughter and playful tone.

Citizen A said, "There is someone causing trouble at a store. They are breaking cars and making a scene. Please come quickly," requesting help from the police. Meanwhile, Park Daeseong repeatedly said in a playful voice beside him, "That's a lie," "It's a lie," and laughter sounding like "hehe" was also recorded during this exchange. A, who did not know at the time that Park Daeseong was a murderer, recalled, "I was so shocked that I cried for two days," adding, "Even though he is small, it wasn’t his body that was scary, but his eyes. It was like seeing a demon." He also added, "I think it’s a huge relief that he appeared to me. If he had encountered a powerless student or an elderly person, I thought he might have caused an accident in that state."
Netizens who listened to the recording could not hide their shock. Comments included, "Really, his voice and laughter are so chilling," "Just imagining it gives me goosebumps all over," and "If it weren’t for that citizen, there might have been a serial murder."
Park Daesung was seen smirking with the corners of his mouth raised in the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured immediately after the crime. Profilers analyzed this as an expression of satisfaction with his crime. Professor Lee Sujeong of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University recently stated on CBS Radio's "Kim Hyunjung's News Show," "Could it not be interpreted as a smile indicating that he achieved his goal and felt satisfaction?"
