Opening of Ulleung-gun Local Agricultural and Marine Specialty Market at Jamsil Station S-Metro Mall on Line 2 on the 12th
Commemorating 'Dokdo Day' on the 25th, Sale and Promotion of Excellent Ulleung-gun Agricultural and Marine Specialties to Seoul Citizens
Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that it will hold the ‘Jamsil Station Ulleung-gun (Dokdo) Special Exhibition’ at the Line 2 Jamsil Station S-Metrocal Market for 9 days from October 12 to 20.
This special exhibition was prepared to commemorate ‘Dokdo Day’ on October 25, to introduce various agricultural and marine specialties of Ulleung-gun to Seoul citizens, and to promote regional coexistence and revitalization of the local economy.
Since June, the corporation has been operating the local market brand ‘S-Metrocal Market’ utilizing vacant stores within stations. In response to the great enthusiasm of citizens so far and to provide a good opportunity to reflect on the meaning of our territory ‘Dokdo’ on Dokdo Day, this event was planned.
In particular, due to the geographical characteristic of being an island, it has been difficult to find producers and distributors, so Ulleung-gun specialties were rarely seen in direct transaction markets in the metropolitan area. However, through this special exhibition, the sales channels for Ulleung-gun’s local agricultural and marine specialties will be expanded, revitalizing the local economy and overcoming the crisis of regional extinction. Thanks to the efforts of the corporation and Ulleung-gun, consumers will be able to easily experience the special products of the naturally blessed Ulleungdo.
For this event, the corporation will provide a ‘Dokdo Model Assembly Set’ to 200 customers holding the Climate Companion Card, and will also broadcast Dokdo videos on a mobile TV installed at the event venue to convey the vivid appearance of Dokdo to citizens.
Kim Jeong-hwan, Head of the Strategic Business Division, said, “The S-Metrocal Market will simultaneously hold themed events covering various targets, themes, and events in addition to the general market. This Ulleung-gun event is a representative case, and we hope many citizens commemorate Dokdo Day and experience the diverse agricultural and marine specialties of Ulleung-gun.”
