The operator of a pickup artist cafe with over 4,700 male members charged tuition fees ranging from 560,000 KRW to about 15 million KRW to teach dating techniques. The general courses were △ Beginner (6-hour lecture video) 560,000 KRW △ Intermediate (1,500-page textbook) 650,000 KRW △ Advanced (11-hour lecture video) 990,000 KRW, and the VIP courses offering one-on-one coaching were △ 1-year course 5.5 million KRW △ Disciple 2-year course 9.9 million KRW △ Lifetime disciple course 15 million KRW. The operator taught members how to obtain contact information of the opposite sex, how to immediately invite them home, and how to avoid being reported. The operator also taught in the lectures, "If a woman asks, 'Why did you do that then?' never apologize. It is better to record (sexual encounters) just in case."

According to informant A, not only that, but members posted photos certifying sexual encounters in the group chat rooms where pickup artist class reviews were shared. Other members who saw photos of women's underwear or body parts responded, "As expected, it works if you follow the teachings." A said, "Since the photos are deleted immediately after being posted to erase evidence, it is impossible to verify whether the results are true or not," and pointed out, "It is very wrong to think of women only as sexual objects and sell 'dating lectures' to people for money."

If the photos shared in the group chat rooms were illegally taken, they could be subject to punishment. According to the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, filming or distributing illegal recordings can result in imprisonment for up to 7 years or a fine of up to 50 million KRW.
