Differentiated topics considering regional characteristics... Overcoming infectious diseases, safe overseas travel information
Professors from Asan Hospital and Boramae Hospital as lecturers... First 200 participants accepted on a first-come, first-served basis
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 11th that it has prepared a customized citizen lecture, the ‘New Infectious Disease Overcoming Project,’ considering the characteristics of the region to prevent infectious diseases.
The lecture will be held on October 16th at 2 PM in the main auditorium of the district office. It will be conducted in collaboration with Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Medical Association to provide practical information on preparing for new infectious diseases.
In particular, this lecture focuses on overcoming infectious diseases and overseas travel. It is planned considering the regional experience of effective response to block infectious diseases despite high population density during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the fact that Songpa-gu ranks first in Seoul for passport issuance, indicating a large number of overseas travelers.
First, Professor Kim Seong-han, an infectious disease specialist at Seoul Asan Medical Center, will be the lecturer. Under the theme ‘Infectious Diseases That Shook History, How Did Humanity Overcome Them?,’ he will examine the impact of infectious diseases on humanity, past cases of overcoming them, and reflect on the lessons we should learn.
Next, Professor Oh Hong-sang, an infectious disease specialist at Seoul Boramae Medical Center, will deliver a lecture titled ‘Traveling Abroad Safely and Healthily.’ As overseas travel has rapidly increased recently, raising the risk of infectious disease spread, detailed information on prevention and management of infectious diseases during overseas travel will be provided. It is expected to be an opportunity to gain practical information for safe travel.
The lecture is free, and the first 200 applicants will be accepted until the 15th. Applications can be made by phone to the Health Promotion Division of Songpa-gu Public Health Center or online through the website (QR code).
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “This citizen lecture will be an important opportunity to raise awareness about new infectious diseases,” and added, “We will continue to provide various health services so that residents can acquire correct knowledge about infectious diseases and protect their health independently.”
