Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the "2024 Nowon-gu Job Fair for People with Disabilities" on the 16th at the main auditorium on the 2nd floor of the district office.
The job fair for people with disabilities places companies that can actually hire people with disabilities at the event site, creating an opportunity for job seekers and hiring companies to meet in person.
This is to support the economic independence of people with disabilities and to expand opportunities for companies to hire them. This is the fourth event since its first launch in 2021.
As it is a place where job seekers and companies capable of hiring people with disabilities meet directly, it has received strong support from local residents. At last year's job fair for people with disabilities, about 1,964 job seekers visited, 242 people with disabilities conducted job interviews, and around 40 were hired.
This year’s fair also encourages participation from job-seeking people with disabilities through various programs and experiences to provide customized job opportunities.
The fair venue is divided into ▲Recruitment Hall ▲Promotion Hall ▲Job Experience Hall ▲Side Event Hall.
In the Recruitment Hall, 18 booths from corporate recruitment halls with a total of 30 companies participate, conducting customized interviews by disability type and job category. Hiring takes place in various fields such as office assistance, driving, packaging, inspection, and video production. Companies that prefer job seekers with skills in barista, sports, and social welfare fields will also participate.
Additionally, vocational rehabilitation facilities (protected workshops) that can maintain stable employment will participate, offering jobs in a protected environment.
In the Promotion Hall, four local organizations for jobs for people with disabilities participate to promote their institutions and provide job information. In particular, on the day of the fair, a video showing the poster creation process by people with developmental disabilities (Kim Seon-i and six others, from Seongmin Welfare Center’s ‘Aha Naming Creator’ program), who supported the event poster production, will be broadcast on the stage screen. The district expects this to greatly help improve awareness of disabilities.
The Job Experience Hall, which received great responses last year, will continue to operate this year. Various job experience activities such as making badges from drawings by people with developmental disabilities, diffuser empathy experiences with a poet with cerebral palsy, and Braille business card making with visually impaired people will be offered to boost employment motivation and promote job diversification among people with disabilities.
In the Side Event Hall, services for taking and printing ID photos that job seekers can use during interviews will be provided.
After the fair, the district will continuously check the employment status of job-seeking people with disabilities through follow-up management and provide additional counseling and connections to those not yet employed to help them succeed in finding jobs.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Through this fair, I hope that job seekers with disabilities will discover various opportunities and companies will be able to hire talented individuals,” adding, “We will continue to actively support discovering opportunities to expand economic independence and social participation for people with disabilities.”
