Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will hold the pre-festival event for the 17th Mapo Naru Saeujeot Festival one day earlier for the first time on the 17th at Hongdae Red Road.
Through this pre-festival event, the district plans to widely announce the start of the festival and actively encourage participation from local residents and tourists.
In particular, by holding the pre-festival at Hongdae Red Road, a popular spot for foreign tourists, they aim to create an opportunity to grow the Saeujeot Festival into a global festival.
The pre-festival will begin spectacularly at 5 PM with a promotional parade featuring a traditional military band and pungmul troupe.
The parade will march along approximately 2.4 km from Red Road R1 to R6, spreading the beauty and excitement of traditional Korean music throughout the entire Red Road.
At the lively Red Road R1, the ‘Red Road Foreigners’ Talent Show’ will be held at 5 PM, featuring Kim Sung-in, a famous Psy impersonator, who will energize foreign tourists and local residents alike.
Following this, at 7 PM, a pre-festival concert by An Seong-hoon and Busker performers will continue to raise the excitement of the event.
The final event of the pre-festival, the DJ Festival, will add a modern touch, expanding the Saeujeot Festival’s appeal to younger generations and diversifying the festival space.
The district plans to naturally introduce the Saeujeot Festival to foreign tourists through this pre-festival and use it as a stepping stone to develop it into a world-class festival.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “As the Mapo Naru Saeujeot Festival has gained nationwide word-of-mouth popularity, this year we have expanded the stage to Hongdae Red Road. We invite everyone to come to the Mapo Naru Saeujeot Festival, which is full of unique and traditional events rarely seen in downtown Seoul, as well as interesting programs for foreign tourists and the MZ generation, to enjoy delicious Saeujeot and create joyful memories.”
