Gyeonggi Yangju Fire Station (Chief Kang Deok-won) has launched a campaign to promote the mandatory installation of vehicle fire extinguishers, which will be enforced starting December 1st this year, to reduce damage through rapid response in case of vehicle fires.
When a fire occurs in a vehicle, it is crucial to extinguish it early because the fire can easily spread due to flammable materials such as various fuels and oils.
Accordingly, the related law has been revised to mandate the installation of vehicle fire extinguishers in all vehicles, including passenger cars with 5 or more seats, whereas previously it was only mandatory for vehicles with 7 or more seats. This will take effect from December 1st this year.
Vehicle fire extinguishers can be easily purchased at nearby large supermarkets, online stores, or fire equipment retailers. It is recommended to buy products that have no leakage or container damage/deformation and are labeled as "for vehicle use."
Chief Kang Deok-won of the Fire Station stated, “Vehicle fire extinguishers are as powerful as one fire truck in the early stages of fire suppression, so their importance inside vehicles is increasing,” and added, “For the safety of drivers and their families, please make sure to equip your vehicle with a fire extinguisher.”
