Kiturami Carbon Mat Sales Target 30% Growth Year-on-Year
Kyungdong Navien Applies AI-Based 'Sleep Technology'
As a cold wave is forecasted with the possibility of December temperatures this winter being lower than average, the heating mat market has started to heat up. Sales of heating mats typically begin to increase significantly from October, and this year, Gidulami and Kyungdong Navien, who have been competing in the domestic boiler market, are expected to compete for market leadership.
On the 11th, Gidulami announced that its sales target for carbon mats this year is a 30% increase compared to the previous year. Last year, Gidulami's carbon mat sales grew by 20%, accounting for about 10% of Gidulami's total domestic sales. This year, the company has set an even higher goal.
The product Gidulami is pushing is the ‘3rd generation carbon mat.’ Since 2020, Gidulami has released the 3rd generation carbon mat, which improves on the inconveniences of the 1st generation electric mats?such as harmful electromagnetic waves and fire risks?and the 2nd generation water mats?such as leakage, bacteria, water refilling, and washing. The 3rd generation carbon mat, which has been improved annually, features conversion of 220V voltage to low voltage, making it safe from harmful electromagnetic waves. The carbon heating wire, tested for 800,000 bends, is fixed to the mat using a special heat pressing method, preventing detachment even after washing. The mat fabric has passed radon and thoron tests as well as tests for children's textile products, allowing worry-free use without harmful substances. A Gidulami representative said, "The 3rd generation carbon mat ondol, which has improved the inconveniences of the 1st generation electric mats and 2nd generation water mats, has led the generational shift and quality innovation in the heating mat market, solidifying its position as an essential sleep appliance during the winter season."
Kyungdong Navien emphasizes ‘sleep technology’ in the heating mat market. The ‘Navien Sleep Mat,’ which implements optimal sleep temperature with precise temperature control in 0.5℃ increments, gained popularity last year with sales increasing by nearly 40% compared to the previous year. It is divided into ‘Navien Sleep Mat Water’ and ‘Navien Sleep Mat Carbon.’ The Sleep Mat Water features artificial intelligence (AI) sleep technology. By installing the ‘Navien Smart’ app, users can analyze sleep stages through breathing sounds during sleep via their smartphones, and the mat automatically adjusts the temperature accordingly. This AI sleep mode was developed in collaboration with the sleep tech company A-Sleep. Research results showed that using the AI sleep mode reduced light sleep by 7.95%, while REM sleep increased by 30.8% and deep sleep increased by 124%, improving sleep quality. This research was also presented at the 27th European Sleep Research Society meeting held last month in Seville, Spain.
The Sleep Mat Carbon uses a detachable adapter method, allowing safe use without concerns about harmful electromagnetic waves and fire risks. It quickly reaches the set temperature upon initial operation and prevents overheating with a temperature-sensing heating wire. Kim Yong-beom, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kyungdong Navien, said, "With the Navien Sleep Mat, which applies an excellent AI sleep measurement solution, customers will be able to experience differentiated sleep technology."
