On the 10th, the city of Pohang signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for investment with the secondary battery material and component manufacturing company 'LKN Tech' at the City Hall's External Cooperation Office.

Through this agreement, LKN Tech plans to invest a total of 4.5 billion KRW by 2027 to establish a production line for secondary battery material components on a 5,300-square-meter site in the Yeongilman 4 General Industrial Complex in Pohang, and to gradually hire 25 new employees.
Since 2015, LKN Tech has been headquartered in Yeosu and has been engaged in the engineering business, and is now seeking to expand its business scope into secondary battery-related material and component manufacturing.
The mesh screen classification frames that LKN Tech will produce at its Pohang plant are core components in the production process of secondary battery cathode materials. Currently, most of these frames are produced entirely by hand in small workshops, making it difficult for rapidly growing domestic cathode material companies to meet increasing production demands.
With this investment in Pohang, LKN Tech plans to become the only company in Korea to establish a mass production system for mesh screen classification frames, preparing to stably meet domestic demand.
Additionally, close cooperation is expected with cathode material producers such as POSCO Future M and EcoPro, which are located in the Yeongilman General Industrial Complex in Pohang.
Furthermore, LKN Tech is presenting a Green Tech (G-Tech) solution by applying AI robot automation technology to difficult processes in steel and chemical plants, thereby improving working environments and creating a green business model that delivers tangible results in terms of environment, safety, and ethical management.
As a representative example, in March, LKN Tech signed an MOU with POSCO DX to jointly promote the robot automation business, and is also pursuing robot automation projects for cathode material production processes, which is expected to contribute to the advancement of Pohang's industrial structure.
Lim Gitaek, CEO of LKN Tech, said, "We expect that moving into the Yeongilman General Industrial Complex, the center of the domestic cathode material industry, will serve as a stepping stone for rapid company growth. Upon completion of the first phase of investment in 2026, we plan to relocate our headquarters to Pohang, expand our business scope to include anode materials and precursor processes, and enter the global market with Pohang as our base."
Jang Sanggil, Vice Mayor of Pohang, stated, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to Lim Gitaek, CEO of LKN Tech, for making this investment decision. The city will spare no effort in providing full support so that LKN Tech can successfully settle in the region and freely expand its business scope."
Pohang City plans to establish various corporate incentive policies to attract promising companies with high growth potential to invest in Pohang and to provide tailored investment incentives for their stable settlement in the region.
