Uljin County Holds Meeting with Young Farmers Uljin County held the 2024 Youth Farmers Meeting.

This meeting was attended by about 30 people, including 15 young startup farmers, Uljin County Governor Son Byungbok, and related officials. The session provided an opportunity to explain various support project plans for young farmers in 2025 and to listen to diverse voices from the agricultural field, sharing concerns and exchanging opinions.

Young startup farmers are selected among those aged between 18 and under 40, and depending on their farming experience, they receive a monthly farming settlement support fund of 900,000 to 1,100,000 KRW for up to three years. Since 2018, 21 people have been selected in Uljin County.

In particular, the Organic Edu-Camp Creation Project is being promoted with about 2.1 billion KRW from the Local Extinction Response Fund and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power operator support funds. The project aims to establish an eco-friendly field training center in a smart farm facility house where participants can learn cultivation techniques for crops such as strawberries and tomatoes.

One young farmer who attended the meeting said, "I am grateful that Uljin County has provided a venue for communication with young farmers. I hope the county will continue to support policies for young farmers and show ongoing interest so that those lacking initial capital can quickly settle into farming."

Governor Son Byungbok emphasized that young farmers are the hope of Uljin's future agriculture, saying, "You must strive to become self-reliant by selecting your own crops, establishing concrete business plans, and completing relevant training to acquire professional skills. The Uljin County administration will do its utmost to prepare various measures, such as securing rental land, to help young farmers settle down."
