Large-Scale Public Truck Parking Lot to Be Established in Galsan-dong, Icheon

City Selected for Gyeonggi-do Public Project... Secures 2.52 Billion KRW in Provincial Funding
210-Bay Garage Scheduled for Completion in First Half of 2026

A large-scale public parking lot for freight trucks with 210 spaces will be established in Galsan-dong, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Icheon City announced on the 10th that the 'Galsan-dong Freight Truck Public Parking Lot Construction Project,' which the city is promoting, has been selected for the '2025 Freight Vehicle Public Parking Lot Financial Support' contest hosted by Gyeonggi Province, securing 2.52 billion KRW in provincial funding.

Accordingly, the city plans to invest a total of 11.2 billion KRW, including the secured provincial funding and 8.68 billion KRW in city funds, to build a public parking lot for freight trucks with 210 spaces in Galsan-dong by the first half of 2026.

This parking lot construction project was promoted to resolve issues such as noise and exhaust fumes caused by illegal overnight parking of freight trucks in residential areas around Jeungpo-dong, which had deteriorated the residential environment. Once the parking lot is established, it is expected to reduce parking difficulties and damages caused by illegal parking.

Meanwhile, in July, Icheon City also reduced fees for two public parking lots, including the off-street taxi rest area parking lot and Seohui Parking Lot, totaling 425 spaces, to alleviate chronic alleyway parking difficulties. After the parking fee reduction, the city identified an increase of 83 monthly subscription users and a rise in parking lot usage rates, and is considering expanding projects to promote the use of public parking lots.

Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, said, "Despite the city's difficult financial conditions, we actively applied for the contest project to reduce the financial burden of the project," and added, "We will continue to carry out major projects and pledged projects thoroughly."
