A Romantic and Sentimental Date in the Forests of Worasan
Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 10th that it held the '20th Jinju City Singles Matchmaking Event: Goodbye SOLO' at Jinju in the Forest of Wolasan, aiming to provide unmarried men and women of marriageable age with opportunities to meet meaningful partners and to foster a positive perception of marriage.
This event is open to all unmarried men and women who either reside in Jinju or work at a company located in Jinju and were born between 1985 and 1995. This year, in an effort to promote cooperation between Jinju and Sacheon, eligibility has been expanded to include employees working in Sacheon as well.
On the day of the event, participants will have a brief orientation followed by activities such as dating in the forest of Jinju, forest leisure sports, and recreation, giving them time to get to know each other. The schedule includes a one-night, two-day stay utilizing the accommodation facilities in the forest of Jinju. There will also be a romantic autumn night walk under the starlit sky and a morning yoga session in the forest.
Young men and women wishing to participate in this romantic event must apply through the Jinju City Youth Online Platform by the 20th. Twenty men and twenty women will be selected by lottery.
The 'Jinju City Singles Matchmaking' event has been held about twice a year since 2011. As of the first half of 2024, a total of 892 people have participated, resulting in 113 couples, and 12 of these couples have gone on to marry. The city also provides a wedding congratulatory grant of 1 million won to couples who marry after meeting at the event.
To address the issue of population decline due to low birth rates, Jinju City is striving to instill a positive perception of marriage among local young men and women and to help them form meaningful relationships by planning a variety of programs every year to increase participant satisfaction.
A city official stated, "This event is designed so that participants can spend one night and two days together at Jinju in the Forest of Wolasan, enjoying the beauty of the garden in the woods. We hope many young men and women who have struggled to find opportunities to meet someone will apply."
