Hyundai Motor Group Advisor Kwon Moonsik: "2035 Will Be the Era of Self-Evolving Cars"

Special Lecture Invited at Keimyung University

The Keimyung University Center for Future Innovation Talent (Director: Shin Ilhee) held a special lecture titled "Future Changes and Response Strategies in the Mobility Industry" on June 2 at the audiovisual room of the Haengso Museum on the Seongseo campus, inviting Kwon Moonsik, Advisor to Hyundai Motor Group, as the guest speaker.


More than 300 people, including 250 students, attended the lecture, demonstrating significant interest in the mobility industry. Advisor Kwon Moonsik is an engineering expert who earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University and his master's and doctoral degrees in Production Systems Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He served as Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group and made substantial contributions to the development of Korea's automotive industry. He is recognized as a leading Korean engineer who contributed to the development of proprietary hybrid technology, the world's first mass production of hydrogen electric vehicles, and laid the foundation for automotive electronic components, electric vehicles, and hydrogen electric vehicles.

Hyundai Motor Group Advisor Kwon Moonsik: "2035 Will Be the Era of Self-Evolving Cars" Kwon Munsik, Advisor of Hyundai Motor Group, is giving a special lecture at Keimyung University.

In this lecture, Advisor Kwon provided an in-depth analysis of the characteristics of the automotive industry and future trends, explaining the 2035 carbon neutrality goal and response strategies to the audience. He emphasized, "The automotive industry is changing rapidly due to technological advancements and shifts in global regulations," and added, "Innovations such as electrification, autonomous driving, and connectivity are becoming the core driving forces of the industry."


Kwon Moonsik predicted, "By 2035, the mobility industry will enter the era of SDV (Software Defined Vehicle), led by autonomous driving and electrification, marking the age of self-evolving vehicles." He also expressed his hope that Keimyung University would further develop its excellent automotive-focused education to nurture innovative talent, highlighting the increasing importance of software in future mobility.


Additionally, he mentioned that Hyundai Motor Group is developing sustainable mobility solutions in response to climate change, explaining that achieving carbon neutrality by 2035 through the development of electric vehicles (EVs) and hydrogen vehicles is a major goal. He stressed, "To survive in global competition, technological development and presenting a future vision are essential," urging the audience to deeply consider the importance of talent in the future automotive industry.


Park Heejun, Director of the Center for Future Innovation Talent, stated, "This special lecture provided students with an important opportunity to understand changes in the automotive industry," and added, "Through continuous educational programs for nurturing future innovative talent, we will produce individuals capable of adapting to the changes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era."


Meanwhile, Keimyung University was selected for the Daegu Mobility Specialized Complex 'Professional Technical Talent Training Project' on September 20, and will receive a total of 1.44 billion KRW in government funding over the next five years. Through this, Keimyung University is striving to establish itself as a hub for nurturing key talent to lead the Daegu mobility industry by offering various educational programs and advancing research and development.
