Added 31 Items Including Boarding Platforms, Cooling Ondol Chairs, and BIT
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 10th that it will expand the installation of 31 convenience facilities at bus stops, including boarding shelters, cooling and ondol seats, and Bus Information Terminals (BIT), to enhance the convenience of residents using bus stops.
Some bus stops only have signposts without boarding shelters or lack BITs, causing passengers to wait endlessly for buses. Recognizing these inconveniences faced by residents, the district has been continuously expanding convenience facilities at bus stops.
Following the installation of 21 convenience facilities at bus stops in the first half of this year, in the second half, a total of 31 additional facilities will be installed, including ▲10 boarding shelters that provide protection from rain and wind ▲8 seasonal customized Seoripul cooling and ondol seats ▲3 Bus Information Terminals (BIT) that display current time and bus arrival times ▲and 10 aluminum benches at locations where narrow sidewalks make boarding shelter installation difficult.
The village bus stops where new boarding shelters will be installed include ▲Institute for National Security Strategy, Seocho-gu Office (22-854) ▲Seocho High School Rear Gate (22-832) ▲Legal Complex (22-171) ▲Gyodae Station Exit 6 (22-897) ▲Banpo Xi Apartments (22-533) ▲Hamjibak Intersection (22-456) ▲In front of Bangbae Cathedral (22-458) ▲Seocho Hills Apartments (22-615) ▲Korea Teachers' Union Hall/Seoul Quality Research Institute (22-281, 22-282).
Additionally, securing Seoul city budget, boarding shelters will also be newly installed at five city bus stops within the district, including ▲Seocho-dong Samsung Apartments (22-140, 22-142) ▲Gyodae Station Exit 10 (22-134) ▲South end of Banpo Bridge / Entrance to Hangang Citizens' Park (22-382) ▲Seocho-gu Sports Center, and Simsang Cultural Center (22-203).
The locations for boarding shelter installation were prioritized based on residents' requests, bus routes, and passenger volume. The installation sites for cooling and ondol seats and BITs will be selected after further review.
According to the four-year plan for improving public transportation infrastructure established in 2022, Seocho-gu is on the verge of installing a cumulative total of 100 bus-related convenience facilities by this year, including 41 boarding shelters and 47 cooling and ondol seats. Furthermore, during summer, the district operates the Seoripul Siwon-i (air circulation device), and in winter, it is promoting the installation of heated floors on sloped bus stop surfaces to ensure safe and convenient bus use and to eliminate residents' inconveniences.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su stated, “We will continue to pay close attention to ensure that residents can use bus stops comfortably and pleasantly.”
