On the 12th, from 2 PM to 5 PM at Yeongdeungpo Park Lawn, various nature-based activities including family pot planting, climate change and eco-friendly education, forest experiences, bubble balloon shows, and family photo sessions for a special day with family in nature
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced on the 12th that it will hold the "Infant Forest Family Festival" at the Yeongdeungpo Park Lawn.
This festival, themed "Let's Play with Haechi in the Forest Garden," will take place from 2 PM to 5 PM. Various programs using Haechi, the mascot of Seoul City, will be operated to allow participants to experience the forest and garden. It is expected to be a meaningful time for infants and families to enjoy together.
The festival programs are divided into two types: mandatory and experiential programs.
The "mandatory programs" include ▲Stone of Life ▲Family Flowerpot Making. The Stone of Life activity involves expressing one’s values by drawing various pictures and writings on stones of different shapes. Family Flowerpot Making allows infants and parents to create mini flowerpots together, forming a unique family garden. Five teams will be selected for awards in Family Flowerpot Making: one grand prize, two excellence prizes, and two encouragement prizes. An award ceremony will be held, presenting certificates to create unforgettable memories for families.
There will also be "experiential programs" open to all residents. These programs are divided into three fields: ▲Garden Culture ▲Forest Experience ▲Climate Change & Eco-friendliness. A total of 10 experiential programs will be offered using natural elements scattered throughout the park, such as the seven-leaf tree, soil, moss, and insects, which are sources of life. Activities include soil painting, indoor purification moss terrarium making, insect necklace crafting, and decorating the Earth with leaves.
As a side event, a "Bubble Balloon Show" will be held, and volunteer activities such as "Family Photo Shooting" will be provided, allowing families to take a break from their busy daily lives and create precious memories together in nature.
In particular, the district is making every effort to ensure safety so that children can freely and safely run and play in the green forest. Safety personnel will be stationed throughout the venue, all operating staff will receive prior safety training, and emergency contact networks will be established with related organizations such as the police and fire departments to respond promptly to emergencies.
Additionally, through the festival, the district plans to promote the unique historical background of Yeongdeungpo Park, which has become a space for rest and healing for residents. The park was formerly the site of the OB Brewery factory and is the birthplace of Korea’s beer industry.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, "I hope the Yeongdeungpo Park Infant Forest Family Festival will be a precious time for children to enjoy, learn, and grow with their families in nature." He added, "We will continue to do our best to prepare various experiential programs so that children can fully enjoy nature in the city and grow up healthy in both body and mind."
