Uijeongbu City Successfully Concludes Hangul Festival and Fashion Show

15 Citizens Participate... Model Hangul Hanbok Fashion Show and Hangul Creation Dance Drama Prepared

Mayor Kim Dong-geun is attending the Hangul Festival and fashion show held at the city hall multipurpose facility on the 9th, taking commemorative photos with citizen models.

Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 9th that the ‘Hangeul, Falling in Love with Its Beauty, Hangeul Festival and Fashion Show’ commemorating Hangeul Day was successfully held at the city hall multipurpose facility.

This event, prepared as part of the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization’s Small Festival Promotion Support Project, was hosted and organized by Pureundure (CEO Shin Min-sik), a cultural tourism platform based in northern Gyeonggi.

The event consisted of a citizen model Hangeul hanbok fashion show, a dance drama related to the creation of Hangeul, and photo zones featuring King Sejong the Great and scholar Shin Suk-ju. In particular, the fashion show program involving citizen participation received great acclaim.

In the citizen model selection audition held last September, about 90 local residents applied, and 15 were selected through a passionate judging process.

The selected citizen models wore Hangeul hanboks made from recycled banners and took the stage to widely promote the excellence and beauty of Hangeul, while also raising awareness about environmental issues.

CEO Shin Min-sik stated, “We aim to widely promote the value and excellence of Hangeul through events that citizens can participate in,” adding, “We will take the lead in establishing this as a local festival that embodies the preciousness and greatness of Hangeul.”

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “Through this event held to celebrate Hangeul Day, many citizens were able to reflect on the value of Hangeul and feel pride,” and added, “We will spare no support and effort to ensure that this becomes a distinctive festival unique to our region, containing the footsteps of scholar Shin Suk-ju, who made great contributions to the creation of Hangeul.”
