Busan City will hold a variety of "autumn events" from the 10th to the 17th in three alley districts throughout the city.

Since 2022, the city has been implementing various projects to attract customers and create landmark commercial districts led by merchants through the "Alley Commercial District Revitalization Support Project," and this event is also being held as part of that initiative.

This year’s events will take place in three commercial districts: Yeon-dong Alley Market in Yeonje-gu, Davichi Somang Festival in Saha-gu, and Moonmoon Market in Nam-gu. Each location will offer a variety of hands-on programs that highlight the unique characteristics of each district.

Through experiential programs such as drawing contests, one-day classes, and tours of nearby tourist attractions, the events are expected to be even more lively and engaging.

First, at the "Yeondongneun Alley Commercial District" located near Yeondong Market in Yeonje-gu, the "Yeondongneun Alley Market" will be held from the 10th to the 12th, along with exhibitions, drawing contests, and tour programs.

Programs include the "Yeondongneun Alley Archiving Exhibition," which displays photos of the district taken by professional photographers to share memories with residents; the "Our Neighborhood Drawing Contest Program," where participants imagine and draw the past, present, and future of the alley; and the "Yeonsandong Ancient Tombs Tour Program," which explores historical sites near the district.

Last year, the "Yeondongneun Alley Commercial District" brought new vitality to the local area through various programs such as operating a "Pop-up Store" in vacant shops and pottery painting experiences.

At the "Davichi Alley Commercial District" located on the east coast of Dadaepo in Saha-gu, the "3rd Davichi Somang Festival" will be held on the 12th. Under the theme "The Sea and Our Family," hands-on programs such as a children's drawing contest and a writing contest for families are prepared.

Last year, the "Davichi Somang Festival" attracted more than 2,000 citizens, and hands-on experiences like catching yellowtail and flounder, as well as kayaking, received great responses.

At the "Moonmoon Sanghoe Alley Commercial District" near the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) in Nam-gu, the "A Day Where the Village Shines Together, Moonmoon Market" event will be held on the 17th.

"Moonmoon Sanghoe" is a name that combines "Mun" (meaning writing) and "Moon" (meaning the moon), symbolizing an alley where people learn knowledge and reflect hope and dreams. Starting with "Market Munhyeon" in 2021 and then "Sosomasil Market Munhyeon," this year, under the new name "Moonmoon Sanghoe," various programs and events have been prepared for merchants, office workers, and residents to interact and participate.

Visitors can enjoy a flea market featuring unique handmade goods and food from local small business owners, one-day classes such as perfume making and cutting board crafting, and street performances (busking), offering distinctive programs rarely found in urban alleys.

Busan's alley commercial districts are making independent efforts to protect and revitalize their areas. They are actively planning and operating a variety of programs to attract customers. Since 2022, the city has been supporting these districts through the "Alley Commercial District Revitalization Support Project."

The Subi BEXCO Alley Commercial District, located near BEXCO, has been running its own promotional discount event called "Subi BEXCO DAY" from September to November, providing various benefits to customers who visit on different days of the week.

The Gamcheon Culture Village Alley Commercial District, following the beloved Little Prince character, has developed the "Gamyangi" character, inspired by stray cats that guard the dark alleys. Various goods and character costumes featuring Gamyangi are being used to promote the district.

Oncheoncheon Cafe Street has created the "Cheoncheoni" character, which encourages visitors to walk leisurely along Oncheoncheon not only during cherry blossom season but all year round, and is running various promotional campaigns.

After these events, in November, a variety of events such as local markets, hands-on experiences, and cultural performances will continue in the alley commercial districts of Buk-gu (Hwamyung, Mandeok) and Haeundae-gu (Songjeong), with participation from local residents and merchants.

Shin Changho, Director of the Digital Economy Bureau of the city, said, "Through the Alley Commercial District Revitalization Support Project, merchants are taking the lead in discovering the charms of their districts and planning and implementing various projects. Our city will continue to support these districts so that their unique appeal and value can be rediscovered and their vitality enhanced."
