School Environment Improvement and Educational Informatization Projects, etc.
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 9th that it will carry out the "2024 Second Half School Education Expense Subsidy Support Project" targeting elementary, middle, and high schools in the area from this month until February next year. The purpose is to create a pleasant educational environment and strengthen public education competitiveness to nurture future talents with creativity and character.
The district will provide a budget of 1.3 billion KRW to a total of 27 elementary, middle, and high schools before the new semester begins in March next year. The subsidies provided to each school will be used for school environment improvement, school education informatization projects, and school education programs. This was finalized through the Yongsan-gu Education Expense Subsidy Deliberation Committee held on the 26th of last month, reflecting the supplementary budget.
Support for school environment improvement projects aims to prevent safety accidents and create a pleasant educational environment by improving aging school meal and safety facilities and learning spaces. This backs 25 projects carried out by 20 schools, including Namjeong Elementary School (creating a safe and pleasant meal environment), Seobinggo Elementary School (broadcasting room environment improvement), Sinyongsan Elementary School (WeClass learning counseling room improvement), Boseong Girls' Middle School (audiovisual room environment improvement), and Sunrin Internet High School (installation of anti-slip and safety railings).
Support for school education informatization projects prepares for new curricula such as the introduction of AI digital textbooks starting next year. Digital facility equipment improvements, smart devices, and educational equipment will be supported at 12 schools including Sunrin Middle School (building a digital-based class environment) and Yongsan High School (establishing a digital classroom environment).
Customized educational programs for each school will also be supported. A total of 20 projects are underway at 11 schools, including Samgwang Elementary School (customized Neulbom program for first graders) and Wonhyo Elementary School (psychological art "Drawing the Mind").
Earlier, in the first half of the year, the district supported a total of 34 schools and 13 kindergartens with a budget of 1.9 billion KRW for school environment improvement projects, education informatization projects, school education programs, high school academic achievement promotion programs, and school branding projects.
District Mayor Park Hee-young said, "It is of utmost importance for students to receive education in a quality environment and envision their future," adding, "We will do our best to create a happy school education environment for students by fully supporting education budgets for students, including discovering and supporting blind spots in school educational activities."
