Police Award Certificate to the Employee
An NH Nonghyup employee who quickly informed other bank branches about a voice phishing incident prevented a loss of 15 million won and received a commendation from the police.
According to Yonhap News on the 8th, on the 26th of last month, an 80-year-old woman, Ms. A, visited the NH Nonghyup Nambu Branch in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, attempting to withdraw 15 million won. She was deceived by a voice phishing scammer who said, "If you don't withdraw the money now, it could be transferred to another account, so withdraw it in cash immediately."

Employee Mr. B at Nonghyup sensed it was a voice phishing attempt and withheld the cash withdrawal. Then Ms. A said, "I will withdraw from another Nonghyup branch," and left the branch.
Mr. B immediately notified the situation through Nonghyup's internal communication network, preventing Ms. A from withdrawing money at other branches as well. Afterwards, he contacted Ms. A's son and advised him to report the incident to 112.
The police awarded Mr. B a commendation on the 7th for his contribution to preventing the voice phishing crime.
