Sinan County (Governor Park Woo-ryang) is holding a photo exhibition featuring the Sinan tidal flats to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the Sinan tidal flats' inscription as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, running until the 18th.
Uniquely, Sinan County announced that the exhibition will be held in two locations: during the first week in the lobby of Sinan County Office, and during the second week in the first lobby of the National Assembly Members' Office Building.
This photo exhibition showcases over 20 excellent aerial photographs capturing the four seasons of the Sinan tidal flats, which are not easily accessible in everyday life.
The Sinan tidal flats were inscribed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site unanimously by the member states at the 44th World Heritage Committee on July 26, 2021.
Among the 'Getbol, Korean Tidal Flats' inscribed as a World Heritage site, 86% amounting to 1,100.86㎢ have been registered, where all forms of tidal flats worldwide can be observed. Notably, a unique sedimentary feature known as the 'sand-gravel linear formation,' which is globally unparalleled, has developed here.
Governor Park Woo-ryang of Sinan said, “The Sinan tidal flats, which led the inscription of tidal flats as a World Heritage site, possess outstanding scenery,” adding, “We will continue to document the changing nature over time and protect these excellent landscapes and natural assets.”
Meanwhile, since 2007, Sinan County has been hosting international symposiums to conserve migratory birds and their habitats, which played a crucial role in the World Heritage inscription. This November, the 13th Sinan International Migratory Bird Symposium is planned to be held.
