Israeli Military "Eliminates Senior Hezbollah Commander"

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on the 8th (local time) that they conducted an airstrike on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, eliminating Suhail Hussein Husseini, a senior commander of the Iran-aligned militant group Hezbollah.

In a statement released that day, the IDF claimed that Husseini, who was killed in the strike, served as the head of Hezbollah's military logistics command and was a member of the Jihad Council, the group's highest military body, playing a key role in arms transactions with Iran. They also explained that Husseini was responsible for distributing combat weapons to various Hezbollah units. Hezbollah has not yet issued an official statement.

Since mid-last month, the Israeli military has been conducting large-scale airstrikes targeting Hezbollah military facilities across Lebanon, while simultaneously carrying out assassination operations aimed at the group's leadership. At the end of last month, they killed Hassan Nasrallah, the top leader of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Hashim Safieddine, Nasrallah's cousin and executive chairman who was considered a potential successor to lead Hezbollah, was also targeted in an Israeli airstrike earlier this month, and his status remains unknown.
