Over 9,000 Licensed Realtors Participate in Gyeonggi-do's 'Safe Jeonse Guardian' Project Safety Jeonse Guardian Sticker Issued by Gyeonggi-do

Gyeonggi Province has reported that over 9,000 licensed real estate agents have participated in the "Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper Movement," which involves commitments such as refraining from brokering risky properties to prevent Jeonse-related damages.

Earlier, on July 15, Gyeonggi Province, together with the Gyeonggi branch of the Korea Association of Realtors, announced the "Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project," which includes the "Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper Movement" and the "Safe Jeonse Management Team."

The Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper Movement is a social campaign based on the voluntary participation, social responsibility, and cooperation of licensed real estate agents. It aims to position realtors as key players in preventing Jeonse damages, enhancing transparency in the real estate market, and helping residents safely conclude Jeonse contracts.

Participating real estate agents voluntarily commit to practical tasks such as providing tenant checklists, offering accurate and transparent information to tenants, notifying tenants of any changes in rights after contracts, refraining from brokering risky properties, and disclosing information about malicious landlords.

Gyeonggi Province certifies participating real estate offices as "Safe Jeonse Gatekeepers."

Additionally, Gyeonggi Province, municipal officials, and the Korea Association of Realtors operate the "Safe Jeonse Management Team," the largest nationwide Jeonse fraud prevention organization composed of 1,070 members, to manage the Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper Movement and preemptively block illegal activities.

To enhance the effectiveness of this project, Gyeonggi Province is also considering introducing a system that allows tenants to directly verify whether participating real estate offices are fulfilling their practical commitments.

Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The voluntary participation of licensed real estate agents demonstrates a firm commitment to preventing Jeonse damages," and emphasized, "We will fully support residents to safely conclude Jeonse contracts at real estate offices displaying the ‘Safe Jeonse Gatekeeper’ mark."
