FXGear, a domestic AI and XR specialized company (CEO Kwangjin Choi), announced on the 8th that XR Poster received great attention at the Don Quijote Kara Con Fest event hosted by Japan's major experiential shopping chain Don Quijote, held on the 5th at Hikari Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo.
This event was a special promotion for Japan's representative colored contact lens brand "Kara Con," featuring 10 popular Japanese actors and models including Miyu Ikeda and Tsubasa Masuwaka. Additionally, 1,000 customers selected through a prior lottery attended, drawing significant interest.
In particular, FXGear's innovative XR Poster experience gained great popularity at this event. XR Poster is the latest XR (Extended Reality)-based self-photo device developed by FXGear, providing participants with a real-time XR experience that feels as if they are taking photos in the same space with famous celebrities, offering a unique enjoyment.
The greatest feature of XR Poster is its realistic graphic technology that enhances participant immersion. While similar solutions incorporate augmented reality methods with limited user compositing positions and awkward compositing results, XR Poster recognizes the compositing space in 3D, analyzes user positions to reflect perspective, and even reflects shadows between virtual and real persons in real time.
As a result, users can freely move in front, behind, and beside the figures in the background image, enabling more diverse and natural compositions. Since 2019, it has been steadily used in domestic and international film marketing events, art and cultural exhibitions, and K-POP exhibitions. The version launched in Japan applies AI-based object separation technology and user-customized beauty functions, allowing customers to receive more natural and clear photos.
CEO Kwangjin Choi of FXGear said, "After this event, XR Poster has been installed and operated at Kirakira Donki, a specialized store of Don Quijote that revolutionized the Japanese distribution industry, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, since October 7," adding, "We expect to create new value in the Japanese distribution market by providing consumers with more innovative and enjoyable XR experiences."
FXGear plans to significantly expand the supply of XR Poster in Japan based on this opportunity. They intend to spread the XR Poster experience not only to Don Quijote, which has over 600 stores in Japan, but also to various types of stores such as LTR's Tokyo stores operating more than 70 themed cafes.
A company official stated, "Through this entry into the Japanese market, FXGear will further strengthen the position of XR Poster and expand the scope of AI technology application to provide consumers with more differentiated experiences, enhancing competitiveness in the global market with services and technologies."
