Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) and the Gangseo-gu Mental Health Welfare Center (Center Director Song Hyun-chul) will hold an event to promote residents' mental health on the 10th in celebration of World Mental Health Day. On this day, the district will host "Emotional Cinema with a Psychiatrist" at Lotte Cinema Gayang Branch.
Mental Health Day is an international observance designated to raise awareness and interest in mental health and to eliminate prejudice against mental illness. Recently, many residents have been exposed to environments threatening emotional stability, such as depression, stress, and anxiety, but the utilization rate of mental health services remains low.
In response, the Mental Health Welfare Center has organized a movie screening and a lecture by a psychiatrist to emphasize the importance of mental health management. Participants will watch the animated film "Inside Out 2" at 9 a.m. and have a session analyzing the movie's characters with Jeon Ji-hyun, a psychiatry resident who is also active as a social media (SNS) writer. Additionally, they will share cases on the characteristics of various emotions and methods to manage anxiety.
A representative from the Gangseo-gu Public Health Center said, "This event was prepared to raise awareness of the importance of mental health in daily life," adding, "We hope this event will provide an opportunity for people to express their emotions easily and improve awareness of mental health services."
