Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 8th that it has been conducting a pilot operation of the 'Ramsar Goyang Janghang Wetland Ecology Center,' an ecological tourism and education hub at Goyang Janghang Wetland, a representative wetland in the Han River estuary protected area, since the 4th.

Goyang Janghang Wetland is a nationally protected wetland and a habitat for waterfowl, recognized internationally as an important wetland. It was registered as the 24th Ramsar Wetland in Korea on May 21, 2021.

Among Korea's four major rivers, it is a brackish water ecosystem (where freshwater and seawater mix) without a sluice gate, where mud crabs and willows coexist. It is a place where the city and nature coexist, separated by the approximately 100-meter-long Jayuro Road.

The Ramsar Goyang Janghang Wetland Ecology Center is a facility aimed at widely promoting the value of the ecologically excellent Goyang Janghang Wetland and achieving sustainable and wise use of the wetland. It is the only wetland ecology center in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The Ramsar Goyang Janghang Wetland Ecology Center consists of a 4D theater, media art hall, documentary hall, exhibition room, education room, and observatory. Additionally, to commemorate the pilot operation of the ecology center, visitors can also see a photo exhibition titled 'Interesting Otter Stories' organized by the Korea Otter Protection Association.

On the 4th, about 20 officials from local children's centers visited as the first visitors, touring various parts of the ecology center and participating in ecological experience education.

Gumi-soon, chairperson of the Local Children's Center Council, said, "It is a very excellent space where fun and emotion naturally blend into education," and added, "I will definitely visit again with the children."

The pilot operation period of the Ramsar Goyang Janghang Wetland Ecology Center is until December 21. In October, a preliminary inspection will be conducted for institutional officials, and it will be open to citizens starting in November.

If you wish to visit, you can make a reservation through the Janghang Wetland website starting October 21.
