11 Schools and 64 Classes Participating This Year ... Educational Videos Produced for Students with Limited Outdoor Activities
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 7th that it is operating the second half of the ‘Our Neighborhood Experience Activities.’
‘Our Neighborhood Experience Activities’ is an outdoor learning program designed for elementary and middle school students to experience representative places of Dongdaemun-gu such as ▲public institutions ▲cultural heritage ▲traditional markets, allowing them to discover the value and charm of their neighborhood.
This year, Dongdaemun-gu’s ‘Our Neighborhood Experience Activities’ are operated with a total of five courses, including the new course ‘Kyung Hee University Natural History Museum.’
Students can choose one course per class from ▲Course 1 Dongdaemun-gu Office ▲Course 2 (Yeonghwion · Sunginwon · Sejong the Great Memorial Hall) ▲Course 3 (Cheongnyangni Market - Seonnongdan · Seonnongdan History and Culture Center) ▲Course 4 (Baebongsan) ▲Course 5 (Kyung Hee University Natural History Museum). Currently, 11 schools and 64 classes in Dongdaemun-gu are participating.
An official from the district said, “Starting next year, we plan to produce and operate educational videos so that students who find outdoor activities difficult can also learn about the value and charm of our neighborhood.”
Dongdaemun-gu is producing indoor educational videos for ‘Our Neighborhood Experience Activities’ that introduce new attractions in Dongdaemun-gu such as ▲The Garden of Knowledge ▲Cheongnyangni Charm Garden, in connection with the ‘Elementary and Middle School Social Studies Village Textbook.’
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I hope this program will enhance students’ interest and understanding of the culture and history of the local community,” and added, “We will make Dongdaemun-gu a ‘child-friendly educational city’ by providing various educational programs.”
