The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) sent 158 student athletes to participate in all events of the 14th National Commercial Competition.
The competition, held from the 7th to the 9th in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, is set to feature intense contests across 15 events, starting with the opening ceremony held on the afternoon of the first day.
The Office of Education selected six students per event from those who won awards at the Gyeonggi Province competition (Commercial Education Festival) held in May, granting them eligibility to compete at the national level.
With 158 student athletes participating, the largest number nationwide, the event highlighted the prestige of Gyeonggi vocational education as the largest in South Korea.
The Gyeonggi student athletes are expected to fully demonstrate the practical skills they have developed in their respective events at school and showcase their talents.
Attendees included Hong Jeong-pyo, the 2nd Deputy Superintendent, vocational education officials from the Office of Education and Education Support Offices, principals and staff from commercial high schools, who encouraged the participating students and their instructors and wished them success.
Hong Jeong-pyo, the 2nd Deputy Superintendent of the Gyeonggi Office of Education, stated, “Gyeonggi vocational education aims to reach the highest level not only in South Korea but worldwide,” adding, “The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will actively support vocational high school students by promoting new future-oriented vocational education to enhance their practical skills and enable them to carve their own paths.”
