"Improving Rapid Treatment and Gas Poisoning Response Capability"
POSCO Pohang Steelworks announced on the 7th that it has signed an MOU with Good Sunlin Hospital in Buk-gu, Pohang to enhance emergency response capabilities and treatment convenience for emergency patients.
POSCO Pohang Steelworks signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Joeun Seonrin Hospital located in Buk-gu to enhance response capabilities and treatment convenience in case of emergency patients, and they are taking a commemorative photo.
Until now, emergency patients occurring during steelworks operations were mainly transported to hospitals located in Nam-gu. However, when a large number of mild cases were concentrated, medical institutions were unable to focus on treating severe cases, resulting in delays in patient treatment.
Additionally, patients residing in Buk-gu faced inconvenience as they had to visit hospitals in Nam-gu for outpatient treatment after discharge, and since hospitals in the Pohang area did not have hyperbaric oxygen therapy equipment, patients sometimes had to be transferred to other regions such as Daegu or Busan.
To solve these issues, Pohang Steelworks has established a cooperative emergency patient transfer system with Good Sunlin Hospital, a general hospital located in Buk-gu.
Good Sunlin Hospital plans to introduce a hyperbaric oxygen therapy facility in November this year, which will be able to treat 14 gas poisoning patients simultaneously. This is expected to greatly contribute to securing the golden time for gas poisoning patients.
Lee Dongho, head of the Safety and Disaster Prevention Group at Pohang Steelworks, said, "With the addition of a new hospital in Buk-gu, it is now possible to provide rapid treatment for mild cases by diversifying transport hospitals. Securing a hospital capable of hyperbaric oxygen therapy is expected to be of great help in preventing serious accidents caused by gas poisoning."
