September 26, Over 40 Public-Private-Police Personnel Conduct Crackdown Activities... 350 Illegal Advertisements Educated and Collected
Songpa-gu, Full Effort to Legitimize Illegal Advertisements through Automatic Warning Dispatch System and Leaflet Verification System Activation
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that on the evening of the 26th of last month, a joint night patrol and campaign involving civilians, government, and police was conducted in the Sincheon-dong and Bangi-dong food alley areas to eradicate illegal advertisements, resulting in the voluntary guidance and removal of a total of 350 advertisements.
To maintain a pleasant alley commercial district, the district is pooling community efforts to regularly manage illegal advertisements that are prevalent at night. On that day, more than 40 personnel, including members from the Urban Planning Department, Bangi Police Precinct, and volunteer crime prevention officers, carried out guidance and enforcement activities against illegal advertisements late into the night.
They roamed the two food alleys, meeting with business owners to encourage the voluntary removal of illegal advertisements such as air lights and sandwich boards, distributing leaflets that detailed the proper procedures for advertisement permits and reports, as well as administrative actions in case of violations, thereby providing thorough guidance on lawful advertising methods.
A district official who participated in the enforcement said, “We could feel the reduction of illegal advertisements on site. In fact, 390 illegal advertisements were removed in May, but this time the number decreased to 350,” indicating that tangible improvements are being made.
In addition, the district is actively responding to the distribution of harmful flyers related to social issues such as prostitution. Continuous unannounced night patrols are conducted, and phone numbers found on the seized flyers are blocked from connection by the ‘Automatic Warning Call System,’ also known as the ‘Gun Killer,’ which renders calls impossible and completely cuts off contact.
Going forward, the district plans to implement strong and effective measures such as promoting the ‘Flyer Inspection and Reporting System’ to legalize illegal flyers and strengthening joint police crackdowns, all aimed at creating a safe and pleasant pedestrian environment.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “To create clean streets free of illegal advertisements, a legitimate advertising culture must be established,” and added, “We ask for the active cooperation of local business owners and will make every administrative effort to establish a proper advertising culture.”
