Training in 16 Cities and Counties in Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungbuk from the 20th to 25th... Linked with Defense Training
Movement of Track Equipment and Military Vehicles... Requesting Resident Cooperation Including Operation of Traffic Control Posts on Major Roads
An armored vehicle is conducting road maneuvering during a long-distance mechanized unit mobility exercise carried out by the Army's 7th Mobile Corps last year. The Army's 7th Mobile Corps announced on the 7th that it will conduct a large-scale mechanized unit field training exercise from the 20th to the 25th across 16 cities and counties in the Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungbuk regions.
This training is a large-scale mechanized unit maneuver exercise linked with the 2024 Defense Training, involving 920 tracked vehicles such as tanks and armored vehicles, over 2,100 military vehicles including the self-propelled crossing equipment Suryong, and approximately 12,500 soldiers. It will take place on major national and local roads in 16 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province (Yangju, Pocheon, Dongducheon, Namyangju, Yangpyeong, Gapyeong, Yeoju, Icheon), Gangwon Province (Chuncheon, Hongcheon, Hoengseong, Wonju), and Chungbuk Province (Chungju, Eumseong, Jeungpyeong, Goesan).
During this exercise, the 7th Mobile Corps plans to maximize operational capability and the integrated use of combined and joint arms combat power through a long-distance large-scale autonomous maneuver training covering 130 km, combined Korea-US crossing training, live-fire exercises linked to combat scenarios, and mechanized unit engagements at the brigade and battalion levels.
The 7th Mobile Corps stated, "As numerous military personnel, vehicles, tanks, and tracked equipment will be moving throughout the training area, traffic congestion, noise, and dust may occur. For safety, we ask residents to refrain from reckless approaches and overtaking near military equipment and to use detour routes. We seek the understanding and active cooperation of the residents regarding the training."
To minimize inconvenience to residents during the training period, an on-site control headquarters composed of a safety control team and a civilian damage control team will be operated, along with a resident inconvenience complaint center. Additionally, joint military-police traffic control posts will be set up on major roads.
