Department of Japanese Language Education at Silla University Successfully Holds the 50th Japanese Language Play Festival

The Department of Japanese Language Education at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) has successfully concluded its academic festival, the "50th Japanese Language Play."

On September 6, the event was held at the small theater in the Yaeum Hall at Silla University, attended by current students, alumni, parents, corporate representatives, and in-service teachers. The festival consisted of a cheerleading performance in the first part and a stage play in the second part. Notably, this 50th edition of the academic festival attracted more attendees than in previous years, making the event even more special.

To prepare for the festival, current students, including first-year freshmen, gathered every day during the summer vacation, taking part in everything from selecting the play to creating stage props, delivering a highly polished performance.

The "Japanese Language Play" of the Department of Japanese Language Education, which began in 1974 and celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, is a long-standing academic tradition. Recently, it was even covered by local Japanese media such as Nishinippon Shimbun and Yahoo Japan.

Kim Doyeon (class of 2022) and Kim Minjun, who were in charge of the overall production and serve as president of the student association, stated, "While preparing for the academic festival, we not only improved our Japanese language skills but also gained invaluable experience. We are proud to have created such a wonderful result with the help of our professors and seniors, and through everyone's efforts."

Lee Jeonghee, head of the Department of Japanese Language Education, encouraged the students by saying, "I am proud of the students who prepared for and successfully completed the 50th academic festival despite the unusually hot summer this year."

The Department of Japanese Language Education at Silla University is actively running the extracurricular program "Leaders Who Challenge for People and the Future! Samidori (Gamnok)!" to help students strengthen their capabilities for secondary school teacher certification exams and domestic and overseas employment.
