The "2024 Goyang Lake Art Festival," Korea's representative street art festival hosted by Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province, and organized by the Goyang Cultural Foundation (Chairman Lee Dong-hwan), will be held from the 11th to the 13th at Ilsan Lake Park and Ilsan Culture Plaza.

According to Goyang City on the 7th, the 2024 Goyang Lake Art Festival carries the slogan "A Fairy Tale-like Street, Into the Story," designed to allow all audiences to escape their daily lives and experience a time of fantasy through the festival. Over the three days, 69 top domestic and international street art groups will participate, presenting 153 performances. Diverse performances such as contemporary circus, street theater, street dance, and parades can be found by following the thematic colors of stages from Hall 1 to Hall 5.

The opening work "Hello, Stranger," which will take place on the 12th, is the largest total multi-object piece in Korea, combining three aerial objects and a fireworks performance. Especially in the highlight scene, 42 citizen performers will present a group aerial performance, creating a spectacular scene to herald the grand opening of the festival. The closing performance on the 13th will be headlined by YB (Yoon Do-hyun Band), delivering the festival's highlight where all audiences can come together. Both the opening and closing performances can be enjoyed on the "Hall 1" stage set up at Hanul Plaza in Ilsan Lake Park.

During the festival's nighttime hours, Goyang City's largest "Fireworks Drone Show" will be held at 8:30 PM on both the 12th and 13th. This year's fireworks drone show at the Goyang Lake Art Festival will be the first in Goyang City to feature 1,000 drones, promising an even more spectacular and dynamic production that will captivate viewers. The drone show and fireworks will decorate the sky above Ilsan Lake Park, gifting the audience a fairy tale-like experience.

Among the seven official invited works selected through a competitive process are top domestic performances including the contemporary circus "Standby" by Bong & Jul, "Moments" by 231 Show, "Flapping Wings" by Jundia, and "Going Crazy" by Code Sesi; object theater "Mother, Show Your Circus" by the performance creation group Saram; street theater "Knights" by Project Tong; and the experiential performance "Fix the Broken Spaceship!" by the social cooperative Children’s Dayda.

Additionally, 14 freely participating works will feature various genres such as magic, mime, marionette puppet shows, street theater, performances, and outdoor exhibitions, showcasing the essence of street art to the audience.

As a special planned performance, the mobile parade "Wakjajikkeol Yulangdan," featuring Goyang City's representative balloon performer "Clown Jin" and marionette master "Ok Jong-geun," will make its debut. The parade troupe, composed of Goyang City artists, will tour the entire festival site, offering joyful memories to the audience.

Meanwhile, the Ilsan Culture Plaza stage will be set up as an "Open Square," a space where emerging artists can freely collaborate. Also, the leading performers of "Goyang Buskers," Goyang City's representative street performance group, will join the Goyang Lake Art Festival to share in the joyful celebration.

Experience programs include the "Zepetto House," themed around Pinocchio’s Grandpa Zepetto, featuring wooden puppet exhibitions, marionette experiences, and wooden puppet-making demonstrations. In addition, visitors can enjoy the "Circus Experience Yard," where they can try tightrope walking, aerial acts, and juggling; the "Kkomjirak Art Yard," a children’s craft-making program; and the "Art Shop," where various handcrafted works can be found.

For the closing performance, no fixed seating will be installed to match the street art festival theme, so it is recommended to bring picnic mats or lap blankets for a more comfortable viewing experience. Also, since the highlight performances take place after sunset, bringing extra clothing is advised to enjoy the festival more fully.
