Selected through public contest... First implementation of practical training for women entrepreneurs

Gwangju City has secured additional national funding to operate vocational training programs supporting women's employment and entrepreneurship.


On the 7th, Gwangju City announced that the "Gwangju Women's New Work Center" was selected for the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's "Women's New Work Center Vocational Training and Entrepreneurship Vocational Training Course Contest Project," securing an additional 42 million KRW in national funds.


This year, through the contest, the city secured a total of 766 million KRW in national funding, expanding to 29 training courses.


The nationally funded "Space Interior Entrepreneurship Course" (October 28 to December 20), targeting female entrepreneurs in the Gwangju area, provides practical training such as obtaining a wallpaper technician certificate and installing flooring and interior films. The course will recruit 20 trainees on a first-come, first-served basis until the 23rd, targeting women. The tuition is fully supported by national funds.


Until last month, the city operated 28 training courses including Chat-GPT Utilization Marketing Field Practice Course, Gwangju-type AI Convergence Education Specialist for future promising jobs, (Industrial Complex Type) Smart Factory-based Quality Production Management Clerk, Hospital Nursing Assistant Field Practice, Hotel Room Manager Training Course, Green Remodeling Expert, and Elderly Care Instructor, providing employment support services to 560 people.


Lee Young-dong, Director of the Women's and Family Bureau of Gwangju City, said, "We will further operate national vocational training courses tailored to local companies and for successful entrepreneurship to develop the job skills of women with career interruptions and strengthen their employment and entrepreneurship capabilities."
