37 Tiemep Cases Scheduled for Prosecution
Allets Financial Account Details Under Analysis
The police have changed the status of Ryu Seung-seon, CEO of Happymoney INC., the issuer of the Happymoney gift certificates that were suspended due to delayed settlements by Tmon and Wemakeprice (Timemep), and the CEO of the affiliated company Korea Prepaid Card to suspects.
Kim Bong-sik, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said at a regular press briefing on the 7th, "We have changed the status of the CEO of Happymoney (INC) and the CEO of Korea Prepaid Card to suspects and are conducting investigations," adding, "Related witnesses are still under investigation."
Earlier, the police conducted searches and seizures on Happymoney INC. and Korea Prepaid Card on the 5th and 11th of last month, respectively.
In addition, the police plan to soon transfer about 30 cases related to the delayed settlement incident of Timon and Wemakeprice (Timemep) to the prosecution.
Commissioner Kim said, "We are transferring Timemep-related cases through consultation with the prosecution," and added, "There are currently 37 cases remaining, and we plan to promptly hand them over to the prosecution."
The police are also accelerating investigations into Allets, an online furniture and home appliances shopping mall that suddenly closed down, causing the delayed settlement incident.
Commissioner Kim explained, "The Seoul Seongdong Police Station is analyzing materials and financial account transaction details secured through a search and seizure of the Allets headquarters," and added, "Investigations of suspects and related witnesses are underway."
Allets abruptly announced the suspension of its service on its website in August due to unavoidable business circumstances. As a result, tenant companies that did not receive settlements filed a fraud complaint against Allets' operator Interstella and CEO Park Seong-hye.
