Hanwha Investment & Securities Completes Acquisition of Stake in Edinburgh Airport, Scotland

Edinburgh Airport in Scotland is owned by the global infrastructure investment firm GI (Global Infrastructure Partners) and the world's leading airport operator Vinci Airports, holding 49.99% and 50.01% of the shares respectively.

Hanwha Investment & Securities acquired approximately 5.4% (about KRW 126 billion) of the shares held by GI and is proposing joint investments to domestic institutional investors through a fund of funds managed by Platform Partners Asset Management.

Global airport investments are considered prime infrastructure assets that can provide long-term dividend income and capital gains. Edinburgh Airport is a major hub airport in Scotland, operating over 150 destinations and 220 routes, mainly long-haul flights to Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Additionally, the aviation industry has shown strong resilience based on increased travel demand and cost reductions following COVID-19.

Kim Guk-seong, Executive Director of the Global ESG Division at Hanwha Investment & Securities, stated, "This investment is an important achievement demonstrating our expertise and investment capabilities in overseas infrastructure assets, following the acquisition of shares in Gatwick Airport in the UK in 2019. We will continue to actively introduce investment opportunities in key global infrastructure assets to the domestic market."
