Kakao's impact commerce platform Kakao Makers announced on the 7th that it has signed a 'win-win cooperation agreement to support flower farms and revitalize the local economy' with Bukyung Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative as part of the 'Jegabatchi' initiative.
Through this agreement, both parties agreed to jointly explore ways to establish daily flower consumption and expand sales channels. First, Kakao Makers participated in the 9th Gimhae Flower Festival held at Daedong Ecological Sports Park for four days starting from the 3rd, operating an on-site booth and conducting online and offline promotions. They actively promoted how to order flowers produced in Gimhae through Kakao Makers, adding vitality to the festival. During the same period, Kakao Makers held an online flower festival, taking the lead in helping flower farms facing difficulties.
Bukyung Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative, which signed this agreement, is the second largest agricultural cooperative among the four nationwide flower agricultural cooperatives. It has been collaborating with Kakao Makers since August last year. As of September this year, it achieved the highest transaction volume among Kakao Makers' flower partners.
Kakao and Bukyung Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative plan to hold special exhibitions for commemorative occasions such as Family Month and Chuseok in the future, aiming to allow high-quality seasonal flowers to reach more users. Additionally, even during the off-season when oversupply is expected, they will focus on online promotion and sales events to ensure flowers are sold at their proper value without being auctioned off.
Kim Jeong-min, Kakao Makers Product Leader, said, "Through this agreement, we hope the paths for flower farms, farmers, and small business owners to grow and coexist together will become more diverse," adding, "We will strive to improve distribution channels and activate consumption so that flowers can be part of everyday life, not just on special occasions."
Meanwhile, Kakao Makers is helping agricultural, livestock, fishery products, and processed foods nationwide, which are expected to face oversupply, to meet more users and increase sales through the Jegabatchi initiative. Since May last year, the product range has been expanded to include flowers, and efforts have been made to expand sales channels and realize profits for flower farms.
