NYT Obtains Copy of Melania's White House Memoir
"Scandal Stories Missing... Deep Resentment Toward Media"
"Lots of Photos, No Substance... Is It a Book or a Souvenir?"
Criticism from The New York Times (NYT) continues regarding the White House memoir of Melania Trump, wife of former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. On the 4th (local time), NYT revealed that it had obtained a copy of the memoir, which has not yet been published, and pointed out that "the memoir omits content related to the 'hush money' concerning sexual misconduct, a major concern for voters."

On that day, NYT reported, "While it talks about the marriage, it omits the scandals," adding, "Readers will not know how Melania felt when it was reported in 2018 that former President Trump paid hush money during the presidential election related to having sexual relations with an adult film actress shortly after their youngest son Barron was born." It further stated, "Melania appears to view her husband as a 'victim of attacks by powerful forces.'"
According to NYT, Melania describes in the book that "we live in a dangerous era regarding the media," indicating a consistent resentment toward the press throughout the memoir.
Melania also raised questions about the results of the 2020 presidential election. At that time, the Trump campaign disputed the election results and alleged fraud. Regarding this, Melania said, "Many Americans still have doubts about the election," and "I am not the only one questioning the results."
The day after the report, NYT published another critical article about the memoir. It noted that the memoir contains many photos and lengthy quotations from speeches during her time as First Lady, but lacks substantive content. NYT criticized the memoir as "thin and severely unbalanced," adding, "It is typical of a former fashion model who said she had a light fruit breakfast with a strong espresso on her husband's inauguration day in 2017." It also mentioned, "In some paragraphs, the initial 'M,' symbolizing Melania, is printed in the blank spaces as if opposing uniform monograms," and added, "It is unclear whether this is a book or a small towel given out as a souvenir for tea drinking."
NYT is a progressive-leaning media outlet that has openly supported Democratic candidates in U.S. presidential elections and officially declared support for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris as the 'only patriotic candidate' on the 30th of last month (local time).
