'SK AI Summit 2024' to be Held on May 4-5
Over 100 AI Presentation Sessions, Exhibitions, and Experiences
Discussing Coexistence in the AGI Era... Presenting AI Vision
SK will hold an event featuring a large number of domestic and international AI entrepreneurs and scholars, including Microsoft (MS) and OpenAI, to envision the future created by Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
SK Telecom announced on the 7th that it will host the 'SK AI Summit 2024' at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on May 4-5. Key foreign figures attending include Greg Brockman, Chairman and President of OpenAI; Rani Borkar, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft; Kai-Fu Lee, Chairman of Sinovation Ventures and Rimes AI; and Steven Balaban, CEO of AI cloud company Lambda.
Domestic AI experts such as Yeom Jae-ho, Vice Chairman of the National AI Committee of the Korean government and President of Taejae University, and Lee Jun-pyo, CEO of SBVA (formerly SoftBank Ventures Asia), will also be present.
The SK AI Summit, which has been held annually at the SK Group level, will be elevated this year to a large-scale global event centered on AI. This year, global experts from all AI fields will gather to discuss coexistence methods in the AGI era and explore ways to strengthen the ecosystem across all AI sectors.
In particular, SK Chairman Chey Tae-won is expected to present coexistence strategies and AI visions to create a global AI value chain during his opening remarks. The event will also be spectacularly opened with a congratulatory message from Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft.
The summit will consist of over 100 presentation sessions and 50 exhibitions and experiences covering AI technology areas prepared by SK and its domestic and international partners.
On the first day, Greg Brockman will take the stage to participate in a panel discussion under the theme 'The Future Vision of AI.' Following this, Rani Borkar, Kai-Fu Lee, and Chris Levesque, CEO of TerraPower, a U.S. small modular nuclear reactor developer, will each deliver keynote speeches discussing trending topics in AI such as AI services, AI data centers, and related infrastructure futures and opportunities.
SKT CEO Yoo Young-sang and SK Hynix CEO Kwak No-jung will also showcase the SK Group’s AI strategy and product development status in an 'AI Unpack' showcase.
Additionally, thematic presentations and panel discussions on AI infrastructure, AI semiconductors, and AI services will continue.
In the AI infrastructure sector, Mark Adams, CEO of SGH, a leading U.S. AI data center integrated solutions provider, and Steven Balaban, CEO of U.S. AI cloud company Lambda, will give presentations, followed by a panel discussion with CEO Yoo. The session will be chaired by President Yeom.
In the AI semiconductor and service sectors, Sam Nafziger, Executive Vice President of U.S. semiconductor company AMD, will deliver a keynote speech, along with panel discussions featuring various global AI ecosystem leaders.
On the second day, panel discussions centered on the K-AI Alliance and dialogues on future business triggered by AI will be held on topics such as AI energy, future AI memory, global telco AI alliances, and AI services.
Under the theme 'AI Together, AI Tomorrow,' SKT explained that more than 15,000 attendees are expected on-site. The keynote speeches over the two days will also be live-streamed on YouTube.
An exhibition hall where visitors can deeply experience various AI technologies and services will be set up. The exhibition will showcase not only SK AI technologies and services but also global big tech exhibition halls such as AWS, MS, and Google Cloud, as well as various AI technologies from AI alliance members like Lambda, SGH, Moloco, and Bespin Global.
Key technologies related to AI data centers (AIDC), including 'immersion cooling,' regarded as a next-generation data center thermal management method, AI energy solutions, and security, are expected to attract visitors' attention. AI semiconductors, telco edge AI, telco LLM, AI infrastructure and platforms, as well as AI services such as AI personal assistants, AI 4 vision set-top boxes, and AI-based material quality prediction systems will also be prominently featured.
The event is free for anyone interested in AI. Registration is available online starting from the 7th. CEO Yoo said, "The SK AI Summit will be a venue where global experts from all AI fields, including AI semiconductors, AI infrastructure, and AI services, gather to find ways to strengthen the ecosystem. Through this event, you can see the present and future being created by SK in collaboration with domestic and international companies."
