Harris: "Continued Pressure for Ceasefire on Israel... This Defense is America's Responsibility"

U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris stated on the 6th (local time) that she "will not stop pressuring Israel and regional Arab countries to (ceasefire)."

In an interview video released ahead of the main broadcast of CBS's "60 Minutes," Harris responded to a question about whether the U.S. lacks influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is expanding the Middle East front, saying, "We are making our principles clear and are continuously consulting diplomatically with Israeli leadership."

She emphasized that the U.S. principles include "the necessity of humanitarian aid, the need to end this war, the need to release hostages, and the need to negotiate a ceasefire for Gaza."

Regarding security support for Israel, Vice President Harris said, "With the support we have provided, Israel was able to defend itself and its people from 200 ballistic missiles launched by Iran," adding, "Considering the threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran, enabling Israel to defend against this kind of attack is undoubtedly America's responsibility."

Vice President Harris's interview on CBS will air at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on the 7th.
