Namyangju City, 70,000 Visitors Gather on Opening Day of 'Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo'

Citizens are viewing the '2024 12th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo' held on the 3rd at Dasan Central Park Lawn Square.

The 2024 Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo has opened with a grand ceremony.

Namyangju City (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 4th that the "2024 12th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo" was held on the 3rd at the lawn square of Dasan Central Park.

Especially, on the first day of the garden expo, about 70,000 citizens visited, sharing in the successful start of the expo.

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, Kim Seong-jung, 1st Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, Baek Hyun-jong, Chairman of the Urban Environment Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Jo Seong-dae, Chairman of the Namyangju City Council, and other provincial and city council members.

In his welcoming speech, Mayor Joo Gwang-deok emphasized, "Gardens are more than just green spaces; they are important platforms that connect nature and people, people and culture, and restore communities." He added, "The 12th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo is a valuable opportunity to introduce the charm of garden culture that Namyangju possesses and will serve as an important milestone for Namyangju to advance as a sustainable eco-friendly garden city."

Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju, and others are performing at the opening ceremony of the "2024 12th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo" held on the lawn square of Dasan Central Park on the 3rd.

The opening ceremony proceeded in the following order: a pre-performance by the Dream Orchestra, screening of the expo theme video, welcoming and congratulatory speeches, awards ceremony for the garden works contest, opening performance and commemorative photo session, and a drone lighting show.

In the citizen garden category awards ceremony, the Yeoyudang team’s "Beyond My Hometown Majae" won the gold prize, the silver prize went to the Tomoru team’s "TIME-LAPSE: The Flow of Time," and the bronze prize was awarded to The Grit team’s "Namyangju’s Natural Gallery Garden."

Additionally, the encouragement awards were given to: △ Heuleum for "Namyangju Containing Water, Garden Resembling Water" △ ?耿 (Ra Gyeong) for "Namyangju, What a Wonderful World!" △ Baramgaebi for "Blow, Wind of Dasan!" △ Onsaemiro for "Steps in Nature" △ Painter of the Garden for "My Own Conscience" △ Pulter for "Dasanhwasa (Tea Mountain Flower History)" △ Dancer for "On the Stage."

Notably, the opening performance included young gardeners, spreading the flow of garden culture to the next generation and delivering a message that conveys the values of gardens pursued by Namyangju and Gyeonggi Province into the future, adding significance to the expo.

As the final event of the opening ceremony, the drone lighting show featured 200 drones decorating the night sky above the Yeolsang Mountain Waterfall, creating beautiful scenes symbolizing the "12th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo."

Held until the 6th across Dasan Central Park, Linear Park, and Waterfront Park, this expo will offer a variety of attractions and enjoyable experiences, including garden exhibitions, garden culture experiences, and garden industry fairs.
