Awards for Female Engineering Educators, Young Engineering Educators, and Gold Collar Engineering Students
Pukyong National University (President: Jang Youngsoo) has been recognized for its excellent capabilities in engineering education by receiving multiple awards from the Korean Society for Engineering Education (President: Song Sungjin).
At the 2024 Engineering Education Conference and General Assembly held recently at the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel, Professor Son Minyoung (Department of Industrial Chemistry) received the 9th Female Engineering Educator Award, Professor Park Solmoe (Department of Civil Engineering) received the 11th Young Engineering Educator Award, and student Jang Junhee (senior, Department of Control and Instrumentation Engineering) was honored with the 22nd Gold Collar Engineering Student Award.
The Korean Society for Engineering Education annually discovers and rewards engineering education professionals who have contributed to national science and technology advancement through outstanding research and development achievements in engineering education.
Professor Son Minyoung was recognized for her contributions to the advancement of engineering education innovation, serving in key roles such as Director of the Engineering Education Innovation Center and Head of the STEM Women Talent Development Project Group at Pukyong National University. In particular, she was praised for developing the basic gender innovation female student module, enhancing female students' adaptability to new technologies and global competencies, and establishing a systematic and integrated talent development system to promote employment of STEM female students, thereby contributing to the advancement of female engineering education.
Professor Park Solmoe was recognized as a young engineering educator who has contributed to innovation in engineering education through active research and teaching in the field of construction materials. She was awarded for her achievements in conducting extensive research on low-carbon construction materials in response to climate change and for operating educational programs that foster comprehensive capabilities in construction materials, such as courses on the understanding and application of low-carbon construction materials.
Additionally, student Jang Junhee was honored with the Gold Collar Engineering Student Award, which is given to students from four-year universities with ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) accreditation who have demonstrated diverse activities across society. He was recognized for his contributions to the local community through various major-based volunteer activities, including the Engineering Education Innovation Center programs, the Social Contribution Volunteer Group, Youth Hope Ladder, and housing environment improvement initiatives.
