With the arrival of the festival season in October, various events will be held across the country on the first weekend.
In Seoul, the Seoul International Fireworks Festival and the Light Island Festival will take place along the Han River, attracting a crowd of one million people. The Seoul International Fireworks Festival, in partnership with Hanwha, will be held on the 5th at Yeouido Hangang Park. In line with this, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will host the ‘2024 Seoul Light Han River Light Island Festival’ from the 4th to the 13th around Yeouido Hangang Park. The ‘Light Island Festival,’ which debuted last year around Banpo Hangang Park’s Seorae Island, will this year be linked with the Seoul International Fireworks Festival held at Yeouido Hangang Park. In Seongnam City, the Seongnam Festival will run from the 5th to the 13th, featuring a ‘Drone Light Show & Music Festival’ at 7 p.m. on the 6th at the auxiliary stadium of Seongnam Sports Complex and at 7 p.m. on the 13th along the Tancheon Stream in Yatap-dong (in front of the Korea Design Center).
Busan and Jeonju effectively turn October into a month-long festival season. Busan’s ‘Festival Siwol’ hosts 17 international events, including the Busan International Film Festival, offering a variety of content. On the 5th and 6th, the 2024 Busan Craft Beer Masters Challenge will be held at the outdoor plaza of BEXCO. Various side events are prepared, including the ‘Busan Craft Beer Evaluation Meeting,’ which selects the company that brewed the best beer of the year. The integrated festival ‘Jeonju Festa 2024,’ blending the taste, style, and excitement of Jeonju in North Jeolla Province, runs from the 3rd through the entire month of October. The Jeonju Bibimbap Festival (3rd?6th) features five themed zones of Jeonju cuisine, a Jeonju food exhibition hall, and a Bibim Parade. Following this are the Jeonju International Hanji Industry Expo (11th?13th), the ‘Jeonju Joseon Pop Festival’ (18th?20th), and the Jeonju Makgeolli Festival (25th?26th), held weekly.
On the 5th, the ‘2024 K-Link Festival’ will be held at Inspire Resort in Incheon. Seven popular K-POP teams, including The Boyz, RISE, SHINee’s Minho, aespa, NCT WISH, ITZY, and TripleS, will present dazzling stages that fuse K-Culture and tourism.
In Seoul, a bonfire lighting ceremony will take place around Namsan Palgakjeong from 6 p.m. on the 4th. From the 3rd to the 5th, the ‘Yonggeummak Festival’ will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Yongsan Yongmun Market. ‘Yonggeummak’ is a shortened form of Yongsan Yongmun Market Golden Beer Festival. Visitors who purchase snacks or food worth more than 10,000 won at market stores receive a free beer exchange ticket to enjoy beer at outdoor tables.

The 27th Bucheon International Comics Festival (BICOF) opens on the 3rd at the Bucheon Korea Manhwa Museum and runs until the 6th. A large outdoor comic reading room has been set up around the museum, where anyone can freely read over 3,500 comic books. Food trucks are stationed nearby. On the 5th, free screenings of the animations ‘No Reason Not to Get Pregnant’ and ‘Butt Detective: Mystery Mask ~ The Ultimate Showdown’ will be held.

The 26th Ondal Cultural Festival, a representative autumn festival of Danyang County in Chungbuk Province, opens on the 3rd at the Ondal Tourist Site in Yeongchun-myeon and the special waterside stage in Danyang-eup, continuing until the 6th. The ‘Yangyang Songi Salmon Festival,’ a major regional festival of Yangyang County in Gangwon Province, will also be held from the 3rd to the 6th along Namdaecheon Stream. At the Songi Salmon Ecological Exhibition Hall and ecological playground set up in the Namdaecheon grass plaza, various ecological experiences are available.
On the 6th, the ‘2024 Harmoye’ festival, bringing together foreign workers and residents of Gyeongnam Province, will be held at the Masan Indoor Gymnasium. The 2024 Busan Global Ocean Meditation & Art Festival will take place over two days, the 5th and 6th, at the Korea Maritime and Ocean University Gymnasium and Arch Beach in Yeongdo-gu, Busan. The ‘2024 Andong International Mask Dance Festival,’ which opened on the 27th of last month, continues until the 6th at the Jungang Line 1942 Andong Station and Mask Dance Park.
