[Special Stock] BCNC Faces Supply Concerns for Semiconductor Material 'Quartz' Due to US Hurricane... Synthetic Quartz Development Gains Attention↑

BCNC is showing strong performance. This is attributed to analyses suggesting that the hurricane hitting North Carolina, USA, could disrupt the supply of quartz, a key raw material for semiconductors.

As of 10:38 AM on the 4th, BCNC is trading at 14,390 KRW, up 7.23% compared to the previous day.

According to industry sources, multinational mining companies Sibelco and The Quartz Corp, which operate mines in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, have temporarily suspended operations since the 26th of last month due to flooding, power outages, and communication disruptions caused by the hurricane.

Spruce Pine, a small town with a population of about 2,000, is the only place in the world where high-purity quartz is mined. High-purity quartz is a critical mineral used as a raw material for semiconductor wafers. If production disruptions at Sibelco and The Quartz Corp continue for an extended period, confusion in the semiconductor supply chain is expected.

Meanwhile, BCNC is a company that has localized synthetic quartz production. Synthetic quartz is a representative material used in semiconductor process components. While natural quartz has been widely used until now, demand for synthetic quartz is increasing in advanced processes due to its superior heat resistance and plasma resistance.
