Wonju City to Host the 1st Youth Dream Fulfillment Festival on the 20th

This event was prepared as a festival to support the discovery of youth talents in arts and physical education through the Dream Fulfillment Voucher project and to provide a stage to showcase their skills.

The Dream Fulfillment Voucher project is a citizen welfare initiative implemented since July last year as a pledge of the 8th Mayor of Wonju. It provides elementary school students (ages 7 to 12) with a monthly voucher of 100,000 KRW to support arts and physical education activities and reduces the educational expenses burden on parents. Wonju City was the first in the nation to implement this program.

The ‘Youth Dream Fulfillment Festival,’ held for the first time this year, offers an opportunity for children and parents to directly participate and experience the effectiveness and value of the Dream Fulfillment Voucher project. An official involved in preparing the festival stated, “We have prepared various side events so that the whole family can come together to cheer on the passion and efforts of the youth on this special day.”

The main events include ▲stage performances ▲artwork exhibitions ▲experience booths ▲drawing contests, with a variety of children’s performances such as taekwondo, piano recitals, dance, and more throughout the event.

In particular, alongside the exhibition of about 100 artworks, 16 experience booths operated by public institutions and local academies will be available, including fire station safety experiences, National Health Insurance Service photo booths, job experience, and craft booths for creativity development.

Additionally, the drawing contest, held as a side event, can be applied for by Dream Fulfillment affiliated stores or individuals. Applications can be submitted in advance from the 7th via the QR code on the event poster or on-site on the day of the event.

Mayor Won Gang-su of Wonju said, “The goal of the Dream Fulfillment Voucher project is to support youth in discovering their unique talents in arts and physical education, nurturing their dreams, and growing.” He added, “I hope this Dream Fulfillment Festival will be an opportunity for youth to gain confidence and move toward bigger dreams.”

Meanwhile, as of August this year, 17,951 elementary school students have been issued voucher cards, showing a high participation rate of 95%. According to a survey conducted in November last year targeting 1,022 parents, a satisfaction rate of 91.7% was achieved, establishing the project as a representative youth support program of Wonju City.
