Secured 164.2 Billion KRW in External Funds Including National and City Budgets Since July 2022
110 External Awards Including 3 Consecutive Years of 'National Local Government Job Awards' and 'United Cities and Local Governments International Culture Award'
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has achieved a significant result of securing 164.2 billion KRW from the central government, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and others since the launch of the 8th elected administration by actively striving to attract external funding.
Since the launch of the 7th elected administration in 2018, the district established the ‘External Policy Team’ dedicated to public contest projects and external agency evaluations, focusing administrative efforts on securing external resources.
To systematically manage public contest projects, the district holds annual public contest and external evaluation progress meetings, and actively encourages the attraction of external funds through various methods such as employee capacity-building training and awards for outstanding departments and employees.
As a result, from July 2022 to the present, over approximately two years, a total of 164.2 billion KRW in external funds has been secured through public contest projects, special grants, special subsidies, and external agency evaluations, laying the financial foundation for the key projects of the 8th elected administration.
In particular, since public contest projects attract external funds by combining regional characteristics with creative administration through differentiated project items, this can be regarded as proactive administration that achieves both excellent district governance evaluation and external resource acquisition.
Especially in external public contest projects, the district achieved a remarkable success by securing resources amounting to 48.7 billion KRW from 183 projects, including 5.2 billion KRW for the ‘2024 Seoul Companion Job Project’ and 2.6 billion KRW for the ‘Local Brand Commercial District Development Project’.
Along with this, in external agency evaluations, the district received 110 awards recognizing the excellence of its policies from various domestic and international organizations, including ▲winning the National Local Government Job Award for three consecutive years ▲S grade in the 2024 Government Joint Evaluation ▲selection as the winning city of the 2024 United Cities and Local Governments International Culture Award.
The district plans to continue creating momentum for regional development by implementing innovative and excellent policies using the secured funds and actively responding to external agency evaluations based on these achievements.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Our employees worked with one heart and soul to diligently attract external funding,” and added, “We will continue to focus on various public contest projects and external evaluations to secure external resources and actively promote life-centered projects that residents can feel.”
