KIPO Announces Open Recruitment for Chief Examiner Positions in Mechanical Field

The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) announced on the 4th that it will publicly recruit a trial examiner in the mechanical field at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board from the 2nd to the 17th.

The trial examiner in the mechanical field is a manager-level position responsible for examining and adjudicating patent trial requests in the mechanical field, as well as conducting research and investigations related to the patent trial system.

KIPO plans to select the trial examiner in the mechanical field through an open recruitment for career positions in cooperation with the Ministry of Personnel Management.

Applications are only accepted from civilians who have experience and expertise in areas related to examination, trial, and litigation of intellectual property rights in the mechanical field.

In principle, government officials are excluded from eligibility. However, faculty members of national and public universities are eligible to apply. Additionally, retired government officials can apply if three years have passed since their retirement date as of the final examination date (next month). Contract government officials currently appointed to open positions (and if they have government service experience not under the open-term contract system, they can apply if three years have passed since the retirement date of that service) are also eligible to apply for the public recruitment.

For more detailed information on eligibility and recruitment schedules, please refer to the Nara Work website and the KIPO website, or contact the KIPO Operations Support Division.

Park Jin-hwan, head of the KIPO Operations Support Division, said, “We hope for the active interest and participation of talented civilians with expertise in intellectual property rights in the mechanical field.”
