Paju-si to Conduct Verification Survey of Social Security Benefits for 5,186 Households by Year-End

Enhancing Welfare Efficiency Through Semiannual Regular Surveys, Monthly and Ad Hoc Investigations

Paju-si to Conduct Verification Survey of Social Security Benefits for 5,186 Households by Year-End Notice for Social Security Benefit Verification Survey.

Gyeonggi Paju City will conduct a second half-year social security benefit verification survey until the end of the year to confirm the eligibility and appropriateness of benefits for welfare recipients.

The social security benefit verification survey involves reviewing the latest data related to the income and assets of welfare recipients and reassessing their eligibility and payment amounts based on any changes. Paju City conducts this regular survey twice a year.

The second half-year verification survey targets 13 welfare benefit recipients and their obligated supporters, including ▲Basic Livelihood Security (living, medical, housing, education) ▲Basic Pension ▲Disability Pension ▲Second-Lowest Income Self-Support ▲Single-Parent Family Support ▲Medical Benefits under Other Laws ▲Elementary to High School Education Expense Support, covering a total of 5,186 households.

The city plans to prioritize the use of public data obtained from 25 public institutions and over 140 financial institutions to carry out the survey. If eligibility suspension or benefit reduction is anticipated, the city will provide prior notification to offer sufficient opportunity for explanation. For households whose benefits are suspended, the city will link other welfare programs and private resources to minimize the occurrence of welfare blind spots.

Kwon Ye-ja, Director of the Welfare Support Division, stated, “In addition to the regular surveys conducted in the first and second halves of the year, we will continuously carry out monthly surveys and occasional surveys as needed to enhance the efficiency of welfare finances and improve citizens’ welfare experience, focusing on enhancing trusted welfare administration.”

Meanwhile, Paju City completed surveys on a total of 10,639 households through the first half-year regular survey conducted from April to June and the monthly verification surveys up to the end of September, reflecting eligibility suspensions for 6,212 households and benefit adjustments for 4,427 households.
