Gangbuk-gu to Host 'Book Culture Festival Eoullim, Chaegullim' on the 12th

The '2024 Gangbuk Book Culture Festival Eoullim, Chaekullim' will be held on the 12th of this month at the Gangbuk Culture and Arts Center Plaza. Hosted by Gangbuk-gu, Seoul City, and Gangbuk-gu Urban Management Corporation, and organized by the Gangbuk-gu Public Library, 'Eoullim, Chaekullim' will take place from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. under the theme of 'Community.'


This festival will feature participation from seven Gangbuk-gu public libraries, including Gangbuk Cultural Information Library and Gangbuk Youth Cultural Information Library, as well as various organizations and groups such as reading clubs, volunteer activists, Gangbuk Family Center, Gangbuk Disabled Welfare Center, and small libraries.


At 11 a.m., immediately following the festival opening declaration, an award ceremony will be held to honor individuals who have contributed to the promotion of reading culture in Gangbuk-gu. This will be followed by a celebratory Nanta performance by the local children's center 'Nayot' and a variety of performances until 3:40 p.m., including ▲Picture Book Theater Play told by Polar Bear ▲Storytelling Magic Show ▲Beeniwini’s Suspicious Candy Shop ▲Fusion Gugak performance by ‘Lala Ensemble’.


Various crafts and experiential activities are also prepared for participants. At the 17 experience booths themed 'Community' held at the Gangbuk Culture and Arts Center Plaza, visitors can enjoy events such as ▲Making Family Photo Frames ▲Creating Transparent Fans with Marine Environment Themes ▲Making Soap Mobiles Together ▲Decorating Picture Envelope Plant Pots. Picture book curation, Gangbuk-gu One Book Exhibition, and Imagination Workshop artwork exhibitions can also be viewed at the experience booths.


On the 2nd floor lobby of Bukjindallae Hall, a Healing Reading Zone will be operated, where visitors can take photos with the library robot 'Romi' and receive 'Gangbuki' mascot goods as gifts. Various events to meet 'Gangbuki' more include ▲Stamp Tour (Gangbuki cookie giveaway) ▲SNS Participation Event (Gangbuki sun cap giveaway) ▲Gangbuki Tattoo Sticker Experience ▲Giant Flower Photo Zone.


From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., a book concert by author Choi Eun-young, known for works such as ‘Shoko’s Smile’ and ‘Even with a Very Faint Light,’ will be held at the small performance hall on the 2nd floor of Gangbuk Jindallae Hall. The book concert will be hosted by literary critic Heo Hee, with performances by singer-songwriter Hong Chan-mi and guitarist Yoo Ji-eun. At the book concert, author Choi Eun-young will communicate with participants under the theme 'Moments of Leaning and Being Leaned On,' sharing various stories.


The book concert will accept on-site registration for up to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 2 p.m. on the day of the festival in the 2nd floor lobby of Gangbuk Jindallae Hall. The concert can also be viewed on a screen installed on the outdoor stage at the festival site.
