Drainage Facility Maintenance for 533 Households over 23.8km in Cheoin-gu Area
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it will carry out a water pollution prevention project in areas with unmaintained sewage pipelines in the Cheoin-gu district.
Funded by the Ministry of Environment’s national subsidy, this project will invest a total of 29.3 billion KRW, including 29.3 billion KRW in national funds, 3.5 billion KRW from the city, and 5.3 billion KRW from funds. Construction is scheduled to begin in December and is targeted for completion in April 2028.
The project covers three treatment zones in the Cheoin-gu district: Chugye-ri and Jubuk-ri in Yangji-myeon, and Dongnim-ri in Mohyeon-eup. The city will carry out drainage facility maintenance for 533 households in these areas. The total length of the sewage pipelines involved in the project is 25.823 km.
Upon completion, privately managed individual wastewater treatment facilities will be decommissioned, and drainage facilities connected to the sewage pipelines will be maintained. The city expects that the project will enable efficient treatment of domestic wastewater generated by individual households. In particular, it anticipates improvements in residents’ health and hygiene, water quality, odor reduction, reductions in septic tank cleaning and installation costs, and enhancement of the local image in the maintenance zones.
A city official stated, "We have secured the necessary national budget support for the sewage treatment facility improvement project and will expand the sewage maintenance zones. We will do our best to expand the necessary infrastructure to resolve citizens’ inconveniences and create a pleasant residential environment."
