A story has emerged about an American woman suffering from a rare disease that poses a risk of death when kissing.
On the 2nd (local time), the British Daily Mail reported on Caroline Cray Quinn, a 25-year-old woman living in Boston, USA, who suffers from Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). This is a rare disease affecting about 1 in 150,000 people, where blood cells overreact inappropriately to certain foods, scents, and other potential environmental triggers.
Quinn's MCAS is currently severe, and she can only consume oats or specially prepared nutritional meals. Eating other foods can cause fatal allergic reactions. Moreover, even kissing someone who has eaten allergenic foods can put her in a dangerous situation, making dating difficult. Therefore, Quinn has established strict rules that her partner must follow before kissing her. She explained, "If someone wants to kiss me, they must fast for 3 hours beforehand," adding, "They must not eat peanuts, nuts, sesame, seafood, kiwi, mustard, and other allergens 24 hours prior. Also, brushing teeth before kissing is essential."
According to Quinn, these rules have mostly been successfully followed so far, but minor issues have occurred during or after kissing. She said, "If my lips or tongue feel itchy, I immediately stop kissing, inform my partner, then brush my teeth and take medication," adding, "Aside from slight facial redness and mild dizziness, there were no major problems. Currently, my boyfriend follows the rules well."
She added, "These rules might even help in finding true love," and said, "If you want to know if a man is serious about you, tell him you have MCAS and ask him to follow these three rules. You can quickly identify those who don’t take it seriously."
